Amla commonly known as Indian gooseberry is one of the most commonly used ingredients in Ayurvedic medicines for hair oils and many more purposes. The botanical name of the Amla (Amalaki) is known as Emblica Officinalis. The small fruit is absolutely nourishing and has a wide range of uses in all kinds of Ayurvedic and herbal preparations. Being a rich source of antioxidants it is the major ingredient in Chyavanaprash, being traditionally used as Rasayana (Rejuvenative). Amla (Amalaki) helps to relieve symptoms such as heartburn and indigestion associated with Amlapitta (hyperacidity/dyspepsia). Amla fruit/ Amalaki fruit is used as a digestive tonic to increase appetite and aid in digestion (stomachic). In herbal medicines, Amla berry is used as a laxative for the relief of occasional constipation.

       

Phyllanthus Emblica

3-6 gms per day for adults. 1 serving = 1 gm = 1/4 teaspoon. Dissolve 1/4 tsp of Amla powder into 1 cup of water and drink immediately.
